[Week II] Movie Review : Keeping Mum

This movie, "Keeping Mum" is a comedy movie. It’s about a housekeeper named Grace. Grace has a scary past which is she kill her husband because her husband was cheating on her. After several years being in prison she was released and became a housekeeper for the Goodfellows. At that time the family had a bad relationship to each other, and Grace wanted to make a perfect family where every member of the family love and support each other. Grace try to eliminate the entire problem such as the kids that like to bully the son, the relationship that the mother had with another guy because she felt being ignored by her husband, and the neighbor’s dog that always barks. Actually her intention was good, but her ways of doing things are too sadistic, like kill some of the neighbors. In my opinion, this is quite a good movie, because it has some jokes that play with words and some sayings and proverbs.

[Week II] Movie Review of "Keeping Mum"

In my point of view, Keeping Mum is a comedy movie that contains very good meaning. It tells us about a family that the head of the family is a vicar.
The vicar uses almost all of his time in church. But in the same time he also lack of his time to his own family. He doesn't know his wife well, and he doesn't close to his children. In fact, his wife is cheating on him because she fells very ignored by his husband, his daughter is being such a whore and keep changing her boyfriend, his son is being bullied.
But suddenly a woman comes to their life as a nanny. She has such an important role in changing this family to be a better family, because it turns out that the nanny is the vicar's mother. In this movie, the family success to be a better family, but in my opinion the vicar's mother is doing it in the wrong way, that is killing everyone that is considered as disturbing the progress of this family.

[Week II] 'Keeping Mum' movie review

In this British drama, yet comedy, movie of 'Keeping Mum' is a slightly good movie. The story was about an old nanny named Grace. Even though she looked like a nice lady, but she's actually a psychopath who kills.

Few years ago when she's at ther mid 20s, she was caught by the policemen when they discover two bodies in a train that she is boarding on. It reveals that she kills her husband when he is attempting to dump her and run away with another woman who also got killed as well. So she has been sentenced to an asylum for years.

In the present day, the 60-year-old Grace meets a family consist of a vicar (Rowan Atkinson), a wife, a teenage daughter, and a younger son. The family is torn apart. The vicar is so busy with his works especially for his upcoming sermon, the daughter dates a lot of different guys, the son gets bullied in school almost every day, and the wife has an affair with her golf trainer (Patrick Swayze).

Grace decides to help the family to be a perfect family, but in her 'own way to make things right.' First, she sabotages the bullies' bikes that injured them, killing a dog that usually annoys the wife since it kept barking every day, and even kill the golf trainer and other people who witness her activity including the neighbors. Even though Grace looked like one of those serial killers, but she is just trying to help the family to be together.

This is rather a freaky movie, but funny at the same time with famous comedians Rowan Atkinson plays the role as the vicar and Patrick Swayze as the wife's golf trainer. Besides Rowan and Patrick, there are a lot of jokes and references that will make you laugh out loud until you drop. Sometimes, the movie can make your skin crawls especially when Grace kills some of the characters in the movie.

This is a good movie, so I give the score 7 out of 10 for having the famous 'Mr. Bean' Rowan Atkinson, funny jokes, slightly good acting, and the thrill.

[Week II] Movie Review Keeping Mum

The movie titled "Keeping Mum" is a comedy about a family which has a lot of problems. Walter, the husband works as a vicar in the small parish of Little Wallop. One of the problems is Walter is too focused on his job and he neglects his family and that leads to his wife, Gloria doing an affair with her golf instructor, his daughter sleeps with lots of men, and his son is afraid of going to school because he is bullied in school.

Their problems slowly ends when the housekeeper named Grace who was jailed for murder of her husband starts working for the family. She sees that the family has a lot of problems and she wants to help them solve it. Her intention is good but she does it in an extreme way and that is by killing the cause of the problems. One example is the dog that always barks in the night disturbing Gloria's sleep, she sees that as a problem and kills the dog, eventually she kills the owner too. She only wants to make the family live happily without problems.

This movie has some good points and bad points. The good points are the movie is thrilling and interesting so you want to know the story until the end. The bad points for this movie are sometimes the joke is hard to understand because it is from the dialogue so non-English people will have a hard time understanding the jokes, the other bad point is sometimes the dialogue is boring. I'll give this movie a 7 out of 10. Despite the flaw this movie is quite entertaining. Not awesome, but good.

Keeping mom is a drama-comedy, where this story started with a vicar named Walter Goodfellow where he is well-known at small English country parish of Little Wallop and has a wife, a son and a daughter. This family is not in a good relation because the vicar always busy with his job, his wife (Gloria Goodfellow) has an affair with her golf trainer named Lance he is a well-known golf player, his son(Petey Goodfellow) always bullied by his friends in the school and his daughter(Holly Goodfellow) always changing boyfriends. Another thing that Grace done to protect this family is by giving a punishment to Petey's friends that always bullying him at school by making a bicycle accident. Grace also killed Lance the trainer golf because she has known that he has an affair with the vicar wife.

For the conclusion Grace wants Goodfellow family become happy than before that is why she eliminated all of the problem that happen in this family. Over I'm giving 4 of 5 for this movie because it has a good story.

[Week II] Movie Review

The movie titled "Keeping Mum" is about comedy movie tells about a family who seem lived happily but in fact they have many problems to solve.

Walter is a vicar who have two children but he rarely care about his family and keep thinking about his job. In result their family met a lot of problems. While her husband is busy with his job,Gloria is cheating with her golf instructor and his daughter works up a constant sweat with her boyfriend and their young son gotten beaten up in his school.

Their problem solved by a housekeeper named Grace, she is very kind but kinda creepy because she keep killed everyone who disturb this family life. Such as,she killed her neighbour's dog because it keep barking all night and disturb Gloria sleeps but she helping out the family out from their problems. The other examples are their daughter cares about housekeeping duty such as cooking, making cookies, etc , their son also didn't bully by his friends anymore because they got injured and she killed the golf instructor who play cheated with Gloria.

Grace is really nice by helping this family get out from their troubles but she used terrible way to solve it and it's consider as crime.

This movie is quite interesting because this movie not only give a comedy all the time but also the thrilling side,so we couldn't get bored easily.I would like to give this movie 7/10 rates because this movie has a unique story line.

[Week II] Review Movie, 'Keeping Mum'

As a drama-comedy movie, 'Keeping Mum' would able to make you laugh with a little bit of thrill implicit in every scene you might see in this movie.

This movie is telling us about an odd yet psycho nanny named Grace. She actually is a very gracious old lady which hidding her true identity inside her friendly smile. She always trying to make a perfect family in any way, though she has to use 'her own hands'.

After failed creating a perfect family for herself by killing her husband for not being nice to her, she has found another opportunity to make another perfect family which consist of a vicar, a wife, a son, and a daughther. This family is lack of attention from their own members. The husband, a vicar, is merely placing too much concern on his job and is unconcern about his own family. The wife, ended up with an affair with her golf trainer because she thinks that her husband can no longer fulfill her needs as a wife. The son, being bullied by his school mates. The daughter, changing new boyfriend too often.

Seeing this situation, Grace felt that she is responsible to fix up this family by take caring all the trouble though there have to be bloodshed occured. She even kill the neighbour's dog which always barking in the middle of the night and the neighbour himself because of discovering her murdering the dog in purpose to make the family could have a nice sleep every night. Not just that, she even kill the golf trainer to prevent the wife for having affair with this guy, make an accident occurd to revange for the son's friends for bullying him and many bloodshed happend without a single sense of guilt.

By the time the mistery being solved, we can really understand what is Grace up to to this family. She's just trying to be a perfect house keeper to make a perfect family which just not in a perfect way.

This is a very freaky movie which standing in the middle of madness and sillyness. Overall, I`d give rank 3 of 5 because it has a briliant taste of movie genre. You can laugh and chills at the same time when you're watching this movie, so I believe this movie would be good only for movie reference.

[Week II] Movie review... FIRST POST??? hahaha

The movie entitled "Keeping Mum" starring Rowan Atkinson, commonly known as Mr.Bean, depicts a life portrayal of a vicar and his family which consists of his wife, a son and a daughter. This drama-comedy themed movie gives scrutiny on how a man would fall too deeply to his occupation and utterly forgetting his family.

The vicar (Rowan Atkinson) finds himself too busy with his religious life while his family barely has proper communication and interaction with each other. The plot of this movie rises as a new nanny was hired to the family and it is previously introduced that this nanny has a psychological problem, in which she willingly murdered someone as that person interrupted her life. As problems start surfacing in the family, the ignorant vicar keeps on focusing on his job, without any acknowledgment of what happened to his beloved ones, which includes an affair of his wife to her golf instructor.

The nanny, as she discovers the complexities in the family unhesitatingly jumps in to the problems and starts solving them with her own way, murdering the source of the problems one by one. The genre of the movie shifts into drama or even thriller. Along the way, as problems in the family slowly resolve, the motifs of the movie are given to the audience.

One thing to note about this movie is the type of comedy presented. Rowan Atkinson is famous for his slapstick or physical comedies, however, audience will rarely see such type of comedy in this movie. The comedy is mostly implied in this movie through the dialogues of the characters and thus, the audience are subjected to different side of Rowan Atkinson, who is rather calmer and more religious. Overall, I'm giving 6/10 for this movie under the reasons of it's genre inconsistency and superficial plot movement.
